Daisuke Tanaka can transform delicate bejeweled embroidery and laces into a dramatically stunning accessories for jacket and skirt. He takes us into a melancholy world that appears familiar but does not exist.
TANAKA DAISUKE AW24 collection was filled with pink sequins and beads, creating an intimate space with the faint light that was created. Although Tanaka receives more spotlight as he receives the 2024 TOKYO FASHION AWARD, but his unwavering dedication to what he loves remains unchanged. “When I was a child, I collected things in my toy box: sparkling beads, sequins, and small parts. It was a clutter of things I liked, but it contained everything I wanted.’’
The see-through material is decorated with silver embroidery on top, creating a sensual and androgynous mood. Pair it with geeky glasses for a poetic style. A romantic tiered dress with a small flower print looks even more sophisticated when paired with a black bodysuit. Basic items such as long dresses, denim, and trench coats with their signature bead embroidery and lace decorations are also unique to this season. Rings, bracelets, and headpieces that emit a beautiful sparkle every time they sway have become indispensable for styling.
The collection is a masterpiece in balance and proportion. Each item is meticulously made to achieve a sense of harmony and balance, with each component working together to form an interconnected and attractive whole. The collection looks admirable, yet the stories behind it appear to be somewhat different at initial glance, which makes everything visually stunning and technically impressive. “I thought it was necessary now to spin my unfading excitement and admiration from my own experience and perspective like a rapper,” says Tanaka. His works, which are popular among the millennial generation, may be the “treasures” we need in this era, which awaken the emotional feeling within us.
